Mediator Training programme – New Year 2024

Ashford Mediation Service is thrilled to be able to offer places on its Mediator Training programme taking place in the New Year 2024.

AMS provides training opportunities and courses to mediators and volunteers.

We will be running a Mediator Training programme in the New Year.

This course is free of charge to attend.

About the course

Our Mediator Training course will be delivered by Tony Hamlin, who is an accredited mediator and experienced trainer.

The course aims to:
• Provide an overview of the theory and principles of mediation.
• Explore the dynamics of conflict and the impact of conflict styles.
• Ensure understanding of the role of the mediator and the role the of co-mediator model.
• Establish the importance and place of interpersonal skills in the process of mediation.

At the end of this course, the participants will:
• Have a working knowledge of the theory and skills utilised in the mediation process.
• Have an opportunity to practice these skills through group exercises in managed role play.
• Have developed their capacities to manage the mediation process.
• Be able to work with parties in conflict and deal with emotions appropriately.
• Appreciate the benefits and differences in managing the mediation process online or face to face.

Participants will be encouraged to share potential working dilemmas throughout the course and should, if possible, come prepared to do so.

Parking & Travel
Compass House is located in Ashford town centre. Many local bus routes run close by and we are (roughly) a 15 minute walk from Ashford International Train Station.

There is no parking available on site. Please use one of the local car parks. Vicarage Lane car park is the nearest car park and there is further parking in Elwick Place.

We can reimburse your travel and parking costs at the end of the course but please keep in mind that it can take a couple of working days to arrive in your bank account. We can only reimburse travel and parking costs if you can provide us with tickets or receipts.

What you will need to bring
Whilst tea, coffee and water will be provided – please bring your own lunch.
